Here's April, I actually finished on 1st May!
I made a few adaptions - decided on some more hexies and hearts for the smaller blocks.
I have paper pieced hexies before, but this was my first attempt with diamonds.
Looking at the pattern, was unsure about the dragonfly, but it has actually turned out to be one of my favourites! Great seeing everyone's progress over on the SAL blog.

Some Progress...
As you can see I have made some progress on my Natures Journey blocks for March, but alas, not enough! Have completed the blanket stitch borders but have quite a bit of applique to go.
The plan is to be back on schedule by the end of April!

Natures Journey February Blocks
Here are Februarys blocks finished, the first month of our Stitch a Long! I have really enjoyed stitching these. Stitching by hand is one of my favourite things, and I do love blanket stitch applique too.
Although I have bought some fabrics, one of the nice things about this quilt is that the small appliques mean you can use scraps of fabric too. Its fun to be able to incorporate lots of different fabrics.

January Stitchery and Fabrics
Our January project for Chookyblue's Stitch a Long was a gorgeous stitchery, a free pattern from Anni Downs. Thankyou Anni!
I love this kind of stitchery, and have made it into a hanging ornament ready for next Xmas.
And, here are the fabrics I have ready to begin "Natures Journey".... yes, I had fun shopping. I have gone with neutrals for the backgrounds, and will be adding some darker colours to it. The burgundy fabrics are some I had already, and I have spotted a beautiful darker country blue that I plan to use for the borders and bindings. The stitchery will be in the blue thread shown.
When I saw the pattern, these colours just came to mind, so we'll see how it all comes together. I'll be adding other fabrics as I go!

Stitch-A-Long
I am joining an online Stitch-A-Long group, run by the lovely Chookyblue, who has been really helpful and encouraging. We will all be making Anni Down's new quilt, "Natures Journey". Have ordered my pattern, can't wait for it to arrive!
